Little Urban Achievers Club; or ‘LUAC’, is located on Great Western Road (formerly ‘The Wise Monkey’) and specialises in gourmet hot dogs and pizzas. We’d received several requests for a review from readers and decided that it was time for a new entry in our ‘All Burgered Out?’ section. A visit to the west-end was in order!

As you probably guessed by the name, the Big Lebowski theme continues at LUAC. It’s a fairly laid-back bar that definitely doesn’t take itself too seriously (check out the ‘Titty Twister‘ pizza) and would be ideal for a pre-night out feast, a work lunch or a place to watch some live sport with a few beers.
We decided to go for a hot dog and ordered the ‘Chicago’. You also get to choose which type of ‘dog’ you’d like (Bratwurst, Frankfurters and Krakauer are all available to choose from) and there’s also a vegetarian selection to choose from too.

Our Bratwurst dog was topped with sliced onion, tomato, peppers, pickles, sweet relish and mustard on a lightly toasted bun and came on top of a pile of spicy fries.

While the hot dog craze may not have swept through Glasgow like burgers have, the food at LUAC shows that the creativity that can be applied to a burger menu can also be adapted to fit other types of food very well. This was probably the ‘busiest’ hot dog I’ve ever had, with so much going on in terms of flavour. Despite a large number of toppings, the flavour of the meat wasn’t drowned out and the combination of the American mustard and the sweet relish was fantastic. The peppers and pickles added a really great crunch that finished the hot dog off nicely too. The bun also tasted fresh and while it didn’t exactly contain the contents very well, it delivered in terms of taste. Be prepared to get your messy at LUAC too – these hot dogs are filled to the brim with toppings and trying to use a knife and fork is just plain wrong.

Even if hot dogs don’t become the next food craze, Little Urban Achievers Club have pretty much nailed it in terms of selection and creativity. I’d definitely recommend it, along with SMOAK, to anyone looking for a good hot dog in Glasgow. I’m also intrigued by their peanut butter & jam hot dog as well as the ‘Blame Canada’, topped with maple syrup glaze and crispy bacon and will definitely be back to visit again soon.

I have read so many articles or reviews regarding the blogger lovers except this article is
genuinely a good post, keep it up.
I’m not sure exactly why but this blog is loading extremely
slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a
problem on my end? I’ll check back later on and see if
the problem still exists.
